Forming Community Bonds
November 4th, 2009 11:34 AM

You have just moved into a new home and are all settled in. You know you there are other people living in the neighborhood, but you don’t know the best way to get out there to meet them.

A good place to start is to see if there is a home owners association. They are always looking for new members who would like to be a part of improving the neighborhood.

What do you do if your subdivision does not have a homeowners association? Well, you can do like the owners in Valley Chase, a new subdivision in Enterprise, did this past Halloween. Throw a party!!!

With new homes going up all the time, most of the families in Valley Chase did not really know each other. So several families got together & organized a block party for everyone in the subdivision. They hand delivered the invitations, asked everyone to bring a dish to share, and with a few tables, chairs, tents, and a jumpy house a party was formed. One family supplied face painting, and a few others put together games. Over 30 families attended & had a great time forming bonds, finding babysitters & car pools, and making plans for the next event.

So don’t just sit back and wonder what to do to be at home in your new neighborhood, go out there and start saying HI!!
